Opal Tometi recalls the movement’s origin and makes connections between acts by George Floyd and pandemic
Opal Tometi, one of the three co-founders of the Black Lives Matter (black lives matter), returns to the origin of a movement that inspired this year the biggest anti-racism protests in half a century.
It was in 2013 and, “like everyone else,” she was following the trial of George Zimmerman, who ended up being acquitted for the murder of an African-American teenager, Trayvon Martin, in Florida.
