Newspaper Canal de Moçambique destroyed after attack

The newsroom of the weekly Canal de Moçambique, located in the center of Maputo, was completely destroyed following a fire set by strangers, on Sunday night, the editor of the publication, André Mulungo, told Lusa news agency today.

André Mulungo said that drums were found inside the newsroom, one of which still had some fuel.

The perpetrators of the fire reportedly inserted the fuel cans into the newspaper’s premises after breaking into the front door of the house, the editor said.

“The signs we found inside the newsroom leave no doubt that this is a criminal act and not an accident,” he said.
