“Extreme voices are not necessarily more marketable, they are just more combative”

Liu Yu, an associate professor working for the Department of Politics at Tsinghua University, explained why she thinks “extreme voices” are more inflammatory in a recent interview,

“Extreme voices are not necessarily more marketable, they are just more combative,” says Liu, “Because the more extreme the voice, the clearer and more passionate it is, and it is easy to form the idea of peer groups. Once a group is formed, even if it is an informally organized group, as long as they form a collective movement momentum that swarms up, their strength will grow geometrically.” Liu Yu explained.
