Shanghai launches campaign to curb food waste

Food waste in online food orders and Internet live broadcasting of people eating will be brought under greater scrutiny in Shanghai.

This is one of the guidelines issued on Sunday by the Shanghai city government, which announced a campaign against food waste, after Chinese President Xi Jinping urged efforts to curb food waste in the country.

Local restaurants will be asked to indicate the amount of food and the recommended number of diners for each set of dishes on their menus. Then to offer food at smaller portions than standard amounts.
