A detailed study of 303 people in South Korea showed that 29% of people infected with the coronavirus never developed symptoms, but those infected carried as much virus inside their bodies as symptomatic people.
The study, published on Thursday by the American magazine Jama Internal Medicine, focused on the outbreak of a South Korean religious group in Daegu in February.
The authorities decided to isolate positive cases with few or no symptoms in a government building, where doctors meticulously monitored the symptoms and tested their viral load regularly.
