Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has been ruled out for the remainder of the La Liga season after sustaining a left hamstring injury during Wednesday’s victory over Celta Vigo. Despite the significant setback to his domestic campaign, the 18-year-old is currently expected to complete his recovery in time to represent Spain at the upcoming World Cup.

The injury occurred in the 40th minute of the match, moments after the young talent had successfully converted a penalty to provide Barcelona with the lead. He immediately signaled to the bench before collapsing onto the pitch, eventually requiring medical assistance to exit the field and head down the tunnel.

Barcelona confirmed the diagnosis on Thursday, stating that the forward will undergo a conservative treatment plan to manage the injury. While he will miss the final stretch of the league season, the club noted he is expected to be fit for international duty this summer.

Taking to social media shortly after the announcement, Yamal expressed his deep disappointment regarding the timing of the injury.

“This injury leaves me off the field at the time I most wanted to be, and it hurts more than I can explain,” he posted on Instagram. He further emphasized his commitment to his teammates, adding that while he cannot contribute on the pitch, he plans to offer his full support from the sidelines as the club fights to close out the season.

The timing of this injury is particularly challenging for the reigning La Liga champions, who currently hold the top spot in the table with a nine-point cushion over their rivals, Real Madrid. Barcelona has six matches remaining in their domestic campaign, including a crucial home fixture against Madrid on May 10.

As the club navigates this final stretch without their young star, the focus will also be on his preparation for the international stage. Spain is scheduled to begin its World Cup campaign in Group H with a match against Cape Verde on June 15, followed by group encounters with Saudi Arabia on June 21 and Uruguay on June 27.
