Earlier this morning Zhuhai reported 2 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to local health authorities. The two cases entered Zhuhai via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on Thursday (16th) evening and were diagnosed yesterday afternoon.
Authorities said the two, who were mother and son, arrived at the Zhuhai port with a family of three. They were subjected to epidemiological investigation and nucleic acid sampling tests before being quarantined at the hotel by bus. The close contacts of the two in Zhuhai, including their family members, passengers in the same vehicle, and the driver, have all been quarantined for medical observation.
Zhuhai has so far confirmed a total of 7 imported cases overseas. In response to the changes in the epidemic situation in Hong Kong, the authorities now require those crossing the border from Hong Kong to present negative Covid-19 test results, on top of quarantine requirements. The certificate must be issued from the recognized by the Hong Kong Government, and the negative test result will only be considered valid for 72 hours after the test.
