The world was making progress towards reducing multidimensional poverty, which takes several criteria into account, but developments are now at risk because of covid-19. The warning came on Thursday from the United Nations.
The conclusion is contained in the report of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), entitled “Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), in which data from 75 countries were studied.
According to the document, 65 of the 75 countries studied had “remarkably” reduced the levels of multidimensional poverty between 2000 and 2019, notably Sierra Leone, the state that made the fastest progress.
