Russians approve change that could put Putin in power until 2036

Constitutional referendum enthrones heterosexual marriage and tightens the judiciary

In a predictable outcome, the Russians voted massively in favor of a package of constitutional changes that will allow President Vladimir Putin to stay in power after 2024.

What is not predictable is the path from here until the end of Putin’s current term, who will now be able to run for re-election and, if he wins, also in 2030.
