62% of Portuguese are racists

Portuguese were asked whether they considered ethnic or racial groups, by nature, to be more intelligent, more workers and also more civilized cultures than others. There are only 11% of the population who reject all racist beliefs.

A study revealed that 62% of Portuguese people manifest some form of racism and that only 11% of the population disagrees with all racist beliefs presented in the last survey of the European Social Survey (ESS), reported this Saturday by the newspaper Público.

The ESS survey dates back to 2018 and 2019 and measures racism through questions, with a random sample of 1055 Portuguese people, aged 15 and over.
