The Brazilian government formalized the appointment of Abraham Weintraub as executive director of the World Bank, informed the Ministry of Economy.
In a note, the portfolio announced that the dismissed Education Minister was appointed to the chair on the board led by Brazil representing Colombia, Ecuador, Trinidad and Tobago, Philippines, Suriname, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Panama.
While politicians and members of the World Bank itself question the minister’s choice for the post, the Economy note tries to highlight Weintraub’s professional experience.
