The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of community masks for covid-19, made with three layers of fabric, when it is difficult to maintain physical distance, such as at work, school or public transport.
The new recommendations on the use and type of masks were released in a video press conference from the WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and were based on scientific “proofreading” and “expert consultation”, said the general director of the organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
According to the WHO, fabric masks, for widespread use by the population, must have three layers of materials to function as a “barrier” to prevent contaminated droplets from infecting people.
