East-Timor hit by strong earthquake in Indonesia

A 7.3 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was felt during Wednesday afternoon (Wednesday night in Indonesia) in the archipelago. There are no victims to register yet

The epicenter of the earthquake occurred 180 kilometers from the Maluku Tenggara Barat region in Indonesia and very close to East-Timor. Although it was a major earthquake, the local Meteorology Institute did not issue a tsunami warning.

So far, there are no reports of injuries or fatalities. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has already said that the occurrence is unlikely to have caused victims or material damage.

It is recalled that in September last year, 36 people died in Ambon, in the same region, following a 6.8 magnitude earthquake.
