White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her position at the end of the month to focus on her family, President Donald Trump announced Wednesday on Truth Social.
Leavitt, who made history as the youngest individual to hold the White House press secretary role, has served as a key spokesperson for the administration after transitioning from the presidential campaign. In his announcement, President Trump praised her loyalty and indicated that she will transition into a prominent role as an outside political advisor and key voice for the Republican Party leading up to the midterm elections.
Addressing her decision, Leavitt shared that balancing her duties as press secretary with raising her two young children following the birth of her daughter made it difficult to devote the exhaustive time and energy required by the role.

During her tenure, she routinely defended the administration through major political events and national headlines, including foreign policy developments in Iran, high-profile record releases, and changes to traditional White House press corps access.
The White House press secretary position is directly appointed by the president and does not require Senate confirmation. A successor for the role has not yet been announced.
