The number of Portuguese citizens and people of Portuguese descent killed following the earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to 53, the Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, Emídio Sousa, announced today in Beja.
The Secretary of State spoke to journalists at the Beja Air Base prior to the departure—scheduled between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM—of two Portuguese Air Force KC-390 aircraft transporting a total of 64 personnel.

Also on board are approximately 23 tonnes of humanitarian aid intended to support relief operations and assist the affected populations, the government official noted.
