The diverse cultures of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, and Portugal will be celebrated in a new edition of the Summer Garden (Jardim de Verão), taking place at the Gulbenkian in Lisbon between June 27 and July 12, the foundation announced today.
With a shared curation between Dino D’Santiago (music) and Alexandra Matos and Luís Almeida (films/conversations), the Gulbenkian Summer Garden will take place across three weekends from June 27 to July 12.
Activities are scheduled to take place across the Grand Auditorium, the Open-Air Amphitheater, the Garden, and the Modern Art Center — Studio and Engawa spaces within the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
The Grand Auditorium will host jazz-influenced pop, bossa nova, soul, and R&B from Bokor, the electronic-infused fado and urban poetry of Rita Vian, and the experimental music and pop universe blend of Alex D’Alva.

Nancy Vieira, one of the most expressive and representative voices of Cape Verde, Toty Sa’Med, a cult artist of the new Angolan music scene, and Os Tubarões, formed in 1969 in the city of Praia, will also grace the Grand Auditorium stage.
Taking the stage at the Open-Air Amphitheater will be the musical duo Bandua, with their electronic reinterpretation of traditional Portuguese music, and singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zubikilla, who blends Cape Verdean sounds with jazz.
The amphitheater will also feature the conscious hip hop, alternative R&B, and experimental soul of Libra, alongside Soraia Ramos, who combines traditional Cape Verdean morna, kizomba, and contemporary R&B as the first Lusophone artist to cover Apple Music in Africa.
This same stage will host Melly, one of the most powerful voices of the new Brazilian music scene, and Fogo Fogo, who promises to traverse varied African party sounds with their blend of funaná, dub, and afrobeat during the closing of Summer Garden 2026.

Under the Engawa space, audiences can expect DJ sets from Indi Mateta, Umafricana, and Berlok, alongside the highly anticipated debut performance of Adison Fernando.
The cultural program also includes the presentation of the seven episodes of the anthology “Novas Narrativas de Caça” (New Hunting Narratives), which will be screened at the Studio.
Each individual episode screening will be followed by an open conversation with actors, directors, and other special guests to debate the specific themes presented on that day.
This edition of the Summer Garden will also feature a special musical encounter between the legendary band Os Tubarões and curator Dino D’Santiago on its final day.
