Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has requested that his American counterpart, Donald Trump, supply more missiles for Patriot air defense systems, according to a letter made public today. Zelensky requested assistance so that Ukraine can receive a “vital tool of protection against Russian terror,” as he described it in the letter dated Tuesday.
Specifically, the letter addressed to Trump, which was accessed by the France-Presse news agency (AFP), requested Patriot PAC-3 missiles and additional defense systems.
The weaponry is intended to “stop Russian ballistic missiles and other missile attacks” against Ukrainian territory, he noted.
Russia has intensified its attacks against Ukraine—which it invaded in February 2022—in recent days, even utilizing a hypersonic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

The campaign, which Moscow claims is in retaliation for a Ukrainian attack against a school in the occupied region of Luhansk, was denounced on Tuesday at the UN by several countries, including Portugal.
