Sporting was crowned three-time European futsal champion today by defeating the title holders, the Spanish side Palma Futsal, 2-0 in the final held in Pesaro, Italy.
The ‘Lions,’ winners of the 2018/19 and 2020/21 editions, took an early lead through Diogo Santos in the fourth minute. However, the same player was sent off later in the first half after receiving a second yellow card; despite the disadvantage, the team managed to keep a clean sheet during the two minutes they played with one man down.

Despite the lead, Sporting had numerous opportunities to increase their advantage, but the second goal only arrived in the final stretch. It came via an own goal by Alisson in the 36th minute, at a time when Palma Futsal was already using a flying goalkeeper.
With this triumph, Sporting joins the Spanish team in third place on the all-time podium, both with three titles. The record is held by the Spanish side Inter Movistar with five conquests, followed by another Spanish team, Barcelona, with four.
