FC Porto failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Europa League today, losing 1-0 away to Vítor Pereira’s Nottingham Forest in the second leg of the quarter-finals.
Following a 1-1 draw at the Estádio do Dragão, the “Dragons” suffered their 22nd defeat in England—a country where they have never won in 25 visits. The decisive blow came from a Morgan Gibbs-White goal in the 12th minute. Porto faced an uphill battle from the start, playing with 10 men from the 8th minute onward after a straight red card was shown to Polish defender Jan Bednarek.

FC Porto previously won the second edition of the Europa League in 2011, led by current club president André Villas-Boas, defeating Sporting de Braga 1-0 in the Dublin final. The club also secured the predecessor UEFA Cup in 2003 under the leadership of José Mourinho, who is the current manager of Benfica.
