Truck drivers and freight operators in Macau are calling for government subsidies to ease mounting cost pressures, as local fuel prices continue to rise despite a recent decline in global oil prices, warning of spillover effects on consumers.
According to the newspaper Macao Daily News, industry representatives said an emergency meeting was held by the Heavy Vehicle Drivers Association and the Macau Freight Transport Mutual Association, with lawmakers Leong Sun Iok and Lei Cheng I invited to discuss possible responses to the sustained increase in fuel prices.
