The United States government has provided over 100 tons of humanitarian aid to support 130,000 people affected by floods in Mozambique, the U.S. Embassy in the country announced.

According to the embassy, the aid includes 260 pallets of hygiene kits delivered to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

“The United States government is delivering more than 100 tons of vital assistance to around 130,000 people in the hardest-hit areas, helping prevent disease and protect families,” the statement said.

The assistance is coordinated with the Mozambican government and the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management (INGD) as part of the humanitarian response to the floods affecting the country. The initiative aims to strengthen relief efforts and support local and international organizations in reaching affected communities.
