Most European e-cigarette sales occur through irregular channels

E-cigarettes are not uniformly regulated or taxed within the European Union.

The European e-cigarette market is expanding, but nearly half of all sales (48%) occur through irregular channels, representing an estimated volume of €6.6 billion and potentially reaching €11 billion by 2030, according to a study published Thursday by the Fraunhofer Institute, titled “The Irregular E-Cigarette Market in Europe.”
