Brazil’s oil production grows 14.6%, thanks to 3.95 million barrels per day

Brazil produced an average of 3.95 million barrels of oil per day in January, up 14.6% compared to the same month in 2025, according to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

The average gas production in January was 193 million cubic meters per day, up 20.2% year-on-year, with a slight month-on-month decline of 0.6% compared to the previous month.

The offshore pre-salt fields, located in the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean, remain the country’s leading hydrocarbon producers, accounting for 79.9% of all Brazilian output, with an average of 4.12 million barrels of oil and gas equivalent per day.

Oil production from these wells reached 3.16 million barrels per day in January, while gas production hit 152.9 million cubic meters per day.

The Búzios field, which extracts hydrocarbons from the Santos offshore basin in the pre-salt layer, remains the most productive, with a daily average of 875,600 barrels of oil and gas equivalent.

The Tupi field, also in the pre-salt layer, leads in gas production, with an average of 43.19 million cubic meters per day.

According to the regulator’s report, reserves located in offshore areas accounted for 97.9% of the country’s oil production and 87% of the gas extracted during the month.

Brazilian state oil company Petrobras maintained its position as the leading producer, with an average output of 4.62 million barrels of oil and natural gas equivalent per day.
