Deputy José Pereira Coutinho hopes that the new President of Portugal will help strengthen relations with China, and in particular, Macau.
António José Seguro was elected President of Portugal in the second round of the presidential elections on February 8, winning approximately 67% of the votes cast against André Ventura. He will take office before the Assembly of the Republic on March 9, replacing Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa as head of state.
