The zone, designed mainly for ball sports, is the first part of the second-phase development to be put into use. Temporary transport arrangements have been introduced to make access easier for residents.
The newly opened section covers about 8,900 square meters along the waterfront near the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge. Facilities include a football pitch, basketball courts, a basketball practice area, and a warm-up zone. The shoreline features leisure walkways and a waterside wooden deck where visitors can walk, rest, or enjoy sea views. Basic public amenities, such as toilets, lockers, and vending machines, have also been installed.
As construction on the broader Phase 2 project remains ongoing, the government has set up a temporary parking area next to Section 1, coordinated by the Transport Bureau. The lot provides 110 car spaces and about 100 motorcycle spaces. Vehicle access is via Travessa da Torre de Macau, while pedestrians can use a temporary walkway along Avenida Dr. Sun Yat Sen.
Phase 2 of the corridor is being developed in three zones, stretching between the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge and the Portal do Entendimento, with a total construction area of roughly 60,000 square meters. Zone 2 has completed nearly 70 percent of its civil works, while preliminary coordination for Zone 3 is under way. The project focuses on family play areas, leisure and sports spaces, and waterfront landscapes, aiming to create a multifunctional coastal space along the Macau Peninsula and expand public recreation options.
On the regulatory front, the related legislation proposes strengthening the penalty framework, including adjustments to administrative fines and the introduction of formal warnings, protective measures, and additional penalties. Authorities say these updates aim to increase the effectiveness and deterrence of enforcement.
