Golden Week visitation surpasses gov’t forecast

Macau welcomed a total of 154,000 visitor arrivals on Sunday, bringing the Golden Week visitation total to 756,967 over four days.

The figure has already surpassed the government’s initial estimate of 630,000 to 700,000. Authorities had projected daily arrivals of 127,000 to 140,000 for the five-day holiday, which includes a day celebrating Buddha’s birthday.

The first day saw 176,000 arrivals, while the second day — the city’s busiest since February 2019 — recorded 221,968 entries.
