About a hundred miles of miles southwest of Beijing is born a city, and a new urban concept, drawn to alleviate the capital of some non-essential functions such as government departments, headquarters of state-owned companies, and research and teaching centers .
In the heart of Hebei Province, the New Xiongan Area occupies an area of nearly 178 square kilometers. Since its foundation, in 2017, in Xiongan almost 4,000 buildings, 671 kilometers of road, 136 kilometers of tunnels and underground galleries and about 48,000 acres of forest area have been built.
Authorities predict, that the new city situated among Xiong, Rongcheng and Anxin counties, its name combines elements of Xiong and Anxin, is erected by 2035 and finalized by the middle of the century.
