MPU and Sands China Jointly Boost Macao’s Cultural Tourism with Art Talent Development Showcase

Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and Sands China Ltd., in collaboration with the MPU Alumni Association, are proud to announce the Art Talent Development Showcase. This exciting joint venture aims to support Macao’s youth policies and facilitate its “1+4” adequate economic diversification efforts.

Macao Polytechnic University, Sands China Ltd., and the MPU Alumni Association jointly organised the Art Talent Development Showcase to contribute to Macao’s development of cultural tourism.

Held at the Lam Kan Exhibition Gallery of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), the showcase provided a platform for students to display their impressive creative achievements, eliciting an overwhelming positive response from attendees.

Under the esteemed presence of Mr. Im Sio Kei, Rector of MPU; Dr. Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd.; Mr. Wong U Kei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the MPU Alumni Association; and others, they presented certificates to the participating students, recognizing their outstanding dedication and talent.

Mr. Im Sio Kei said that the cooperation between MPU and Sands China has yielded remarkable achievements over the past two decades, spanning gaming management, innovative technology and diverse training. Through this university-enterprise cooperation scheme, undergraduate students and aspiring art and design enthusiasts gain invaluable practical experiences, enabling them to understand the corporate operational environment and emerge as versatile talents.

This initiative significantly contributes to Macao’s cultural tourism development by seamlessly integrating conventions, exhibitions and commerce.

Dr. Wilfred Wong noted that culture is the soul of a city. With Macao’s rich historical heritage, encompassing over 400 years of Chinese and Western cultural fusion, numerous undiscovered treasures await the discerning eye of art experts. He extended his congratulations to all the students who successfully completed the Art Talent Development Showcase, expressing his hope that they will utilize their expertise to introduce Macao’s unique aspects to international visitors. Sands China will continue to nurture local tourism professionals and facilitate the integrated development of culture and tourism.

Mr. Wong U Kei commended the Art Talent Development Showcase for providing an unconventional learning platform, enabling participants to apply the theoretical knowledge and professional skills acquired in classes. This practical approach enhances students’ overall capabilities, broadens their horizons, and enriches their learning experiences. These invaluable opportunities empower young individuals, positioning them as a rising force in Macao’s art and cultural sector.

During the sharing session, student representatives Ao Nim Chi and Chen Fangyu both expressed their appreciation for the programme, highlighting how it allowed them to put their knowledge into practice, enhancing their artistic creativity and expression. They also benefited greatly from the guidance of their project managers, who inspired their career planning and academic development.

In addition to the guests mentioned above, the exhibition was attended by prominent figures, including Mr Paulo Cheong, Vice President of Human Resources of Sands China Ltd.; Ms Isabella Che, Director of Human Resources of Sands China Ltd.; Ms Lei Ngan Lin, MPU Vice Rector; Ms Lai Mei Kei, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design; Ms Lao Weng Ian, Head of the Student Affairs Office; Mr Liu Kun Him, President of the MPU Alumni Association; Mr Lei Hin Kei, Vice Director-General of the MPU Alumni Association; as well as MPU teaching staff, students, MPU alumni and the general public.
