Macau “hosts one of the most extreme challenges”

The Guia Circuit has become famous for its difficulty. "Few would believe that this urban maze, filled with skyscrapers, is home to one of the most extreme and dangerous challenges in motorsport," wrote professional driver and coach Ryan Lewis in an article for The Drive.

In his own words, this race is one of the “most extreme and dangerous” because it is an urban circuit that combines long, high-speed straights with tight corners and counter-curves. The minimum width of the course is only seven meters, placing enormous demands on the skills of the racing professionals.

The Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix is the main race. In it, the drivers compete for the FIA F3 World Cup. The drivers come to prove their worth, not just in Macau, but in the racing world in general. “The precision and intelligence needed to race at the Guia Circuit is what Formula 1 teams are looking for in young drivers moving up to the big leagues,” wrote another media outlet specializing in motorsport. F1 greats such as Ayrton Senna da Silva and Michael Schumacher are among the big names who have conquered Macau on their way to the F1 racing circuit.

“I took part in the Macau F3 race for two years and I’ve never seen anything so spectacular,” said Oliver Jarvis, who won the qualifying race in 2007. “You have to be very precise and drive at the limit to be there,” he told The Drive.
