Five people died and a sixth is missing after a helicopter carrying tourists crashed near Mount Everest in Nepal, according to local authorities.
Basanta Bhattarai, the main government administrator in the region, said that rescue teams had recovered five bodies in the Lamajura area, where the helicopter crashed, and were looking for a sixth person.
The helicopter was carrying five tourists on a sightseeing tour of the world’s highest peak and returning to the capital, Kathmandu. The tourists will be Mexican nationals, while the pilot was Nepalese.
An airport official said weather conditions had forced the helicopter to change its flight path.
