Hong Kong authorities have announced that they will no longer allow the dismissal for just cause of workers who refuse employers’ demands to vaccinate themselves against covid-19.
The decision is published today in the Hong Kong Government Bulletin and should come into force on June 16, unless the parliament decides to veto the measure, the Department of Labor of the Chinese region announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, the department justifies the policy change with the end of mandatory vaccination for entering public places, as of December 29, and with “Hong Kong society returning to normality completely” after the pandemic.
