Chinese football super league to be reduced to 16 teams

The Chinese football championship will reduce the number of teams competing from 18 to 16 next season, excluding Kunshan FC and Guangzhou City.

The information was advanced by the Chinese Football Federation (CFA), with the publication of the lists for Superliga (CSL), Liga 1 and Liga 2, the professional divisions of the sport in the country, explaining the reduction.

“Kunshan FC voluntarily withdrew from joining the CSL, while Guangzhou City did not pass the admission process”, justified the director of the organization committee of the Federation, Shi Qiang.
