At least one Portuguese citizen has died as a result of the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela on Wednesday, the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.
The male victim was pulled from the rubble alive but ultimately passed away while en route to the hospital.

Through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Portugal extended its “heartfelt condolences to the family” and expressed “solidarity with the authorities and the Venezuelan people.”
Portuguese diplomats had previously announced that at least five Portuguese nationals, four of whom belong to the same family, were missing following the earthquakes.
