During the government report presentation at the 14th National People’s Congress’s first session, Premier Li Keqiang also looked back on the development of Hong Kong and Macau in the past five years, particularly on Hong Kong’s implementation of the law on safeguarding national security,
which he says helped transition Hong Kong from “chaos to order” and from “stability to prosperity”.
He highlighted the expedition of the development as well of Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and the Greater Bay Area, and the support for both SARs’ economic development, livelihood, and pandemic prevention measures.
“We should fully, faithfully and resolutely implement the policy “One Country, Two Systems”, under which the people of Hong Kong administer Hong Kong, and Macau administering Macau. Both with a high degree of autonomy. We should uphold the stability of the Chinese Constitution and the Basic Law of the two regions. And that Hong Kong and Macau are administered by patriots. We should support Hong Kong and Macau in growing their economy and improving the lives of their people. And maintain the long-term prosperity and stability of the two regions.”
Premier Li Keqiang also told the NPC members that the over the past year the Central Government has reinforced the overall jurisdiction over Hong Kong and Macau.
