The Italian press informs this Tuesday that the negotiations between Milan and Rafael Leão, for the signing of a new contract, met a strong setback. “Total rupture”, writes the newspaper Gazetta dello Sport, reporting on the differences between the two parties.
The termination clause was one of the reasons for the departure: the former Sporting striker would want a value well below the current one, going from 150 million to 70/80.
The player’s salary is also mentioned by the publication: Leão would intend to pay seven million per season, a value higher than what Milan would intend to pay.
The 23-year-old forward has a contract valid until 2024 with the Italian emblem, which he represents since 2019/20, after leaving Lille, from France.
