Exports from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau rise 49%

Exports of goods from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau, in the first eleven months of the year, rose 49%, compared to the same period in 2021, according to official data released today.

The value exported by Portuguese-speaking countries to the Chinese special administrative region between January and November this year was 958 million patacas (111 million euros), according to a statement from the Directorate of Statistics and Census Services (DSEC).

The amount of goods imported from Macau by the Portuguese-speaking bloc fell by 74.2% year-on-year, to an amount of two million patacas (233,000 euros).

The November trade balance registered a deficit of 11.57 billion patacas (1.36 billion euros), said DSEC.

Between January and November of this year, export values reached 12.7 billion patacas (1.4 billion euros), that is, 6.4% more than in the same period last year, and the value of Imports of goods reached 127.9 billion patacas (14.9 billion euros), an 8.1% drop year-on-year.

The trade balance deficit in the first eleven months of 2022 amounted to 115.2 billion patacas (13.4 billion euros), 12 billion patacas (1.4 billion euros) less than the same period last year last year, added the DSEC.
