Elon Musk is evaluating the reactivation of suspended accounts on Twitter, I have been asking users about this possibility, after having returned to allow Donald Trump’s presence on the social network.
“Twitter should offer a blanket amnesty for suspended accounts, as long as they haven’t broken the law or spammed,” questioned the company’s owner.
About two hours later, more than a million accounts had already spoken out, mainly in favor of the reactivation.
On Saturday, the executive chairman of Twitter had already re-activated the account of the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, banned after the invasion of the Capitol in January 2021.
Musk, who is also responsible for Tesla and SpaceX, has been stressing that Twitter is a “digital public square”, essential for democracy.
Even so, he argues that content moderation is too restrictive, undermining freedom of expression.
In view of this, several brands have already suspended their advertising on the platform.
