Revolut suffers cyberattack and 50,000 customers are exposed

Revolut has been the target of a cyberattack, a spokesperson for the London-based fintech confirmed to Techcrunch. Dinheiro Vivo has also confirmed the intrusion with the company’s official source. The cyberattack was identified on September 10 and will have exposed the data of around 50,000 customers.

According to the fintech created by Nikolay Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko, an unauthorized entity carried out a “targeted attack”, managing to gain access to the data of “a small percentage (0.16%) of customers”.

The official source response, sent to the newsroom by email, was no more accurate than that. However, according to TechCrunch, the company has already informed the authorities of Lithuania, the country where Revolut’s banking activity is registered, having informed about an unauthorized intrusion to about 50 thousand Revolut customers (including more than 21 thousand customers are from the European Union).

Dinheiro Vivo asked Revolut whether among the affected customers there are Portuguese (or customers registered in Portugal), but fintech refuses to reveal this type of specific information.
