Bolsonaro says Trump will beat viruses and come out stronger “for the good of the world”

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro wished on Friday a speedy recovery to his North American counterpart, after testing positive for covid-19, and indicated that Donald Trump “will come out stronger, for the good of the United States and the world”.

“I wish the US President Donald Trump and the First Lady Melania a speedy recovery. With faith in God, you will soon be recovered and the work in running your country and your reelection campaign will not be harmed ”, written on the social network Facebook Bolsonaro, a confessed admirer of the American head of state.

“You will win and come out stronger, for the good of the USA and the world,” added the President of Brazil, who has also been infected with the new coronavirus.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, was transported on Friday afternoon to Walter Reed Military Hospital, in the suburbs of Washington, as a precaution, after having tested positive for covid-19.

“I think I’m doing really well, but we will try to make sure things go well,” said Donald Trump in a video message meanwhile posted on his Twitter account.

Trump, 74, brings together risk factors for developing more severe symptoms of the new coronvirus, due to his age and obesity.

Trump doctor Sean Conley said on Friday that doctors were available to provide the President with an experimental ‘cocktail’ of: vitamin D; famotidine, which is used to treat heartburn and acid reflux; melatonin, sleep aid, and aspirin.

Donald Trump’s scheduled campaign actions will be maintained virtually or postponed, the Republican candidate’s campaign team announced on Friday when the presidential election was just over 30 days away.

Trump and Bolsonaro have in common the fact that they are the heads of states most skeptical about the severity of the disease caused by the new coronavirus, with both advocating, since the beginning of the pandemic, the use of chloroquine, a drug used to fight diseases such as malaria, but without scientific evidence against covid-19.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than one million deaths and more than 34.3 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report made by the French agency AFP.

The United States is the country with the most deaths (207,816) and also with the most confirmed cases of infection (more than 7.2 million).

Brazil is the Portuguese-speaking country most affected by the pandemic and one of the hardest hit in the world, when it accounts for the second number of deaths (more than 4.8 million cases and 145,388 deaths), after the United States.
