Most people are aware that there are risks when it comes to silicone implants. Scars and infections, for example, are some of them. However, a new report from NBC News points out that there is one more thing that people should consider: the product may be linked to a certain type of cancer.

Anaplastic large cell lymphoma associated with breast implantation (BIA-ALCL) is a rare type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (also known as immune system cancer), according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In most situations, BIA-ALCL is found in the scar tissue and in the fluid near the implant, but in some cases it can spread through the person’s body.
