The United States will tighten sanctions against Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei and 38 subsidiaries to prevent its access to US technologies, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced in a statement yesterday.
The US administration accused Huawei of using its international subsidiaries to circumvent the sanctions. He said that the group represents a security risk for the country due to its ties with the Chinese government, which Huawei denies.
Huawei and its subsidiaries “have stepped up efforts to obtain cutting-edge semiconductors developed or produced using‘ software ’and North American technologies. With a view to achieving political goals for the Communist Party of China, ”says US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, quoted in the statement.
