“I saw parts of bodies thrown on the streets”, says a victim of the Beirut explosion

Ayla, one of the 5,000 injured in the tragedy in the Lebanese capital, told Band about the horror she saw just after the explosion of ammonium nitrate in the port of Beirut

In every rubble in the port area of Beirut, Lebanon, rescue teams from different countries dedicate themselves for hours in search of survivors. Sniffer dogs help in the mission. With each passing minute it becomes more difficult to find victims alive, but no one loses hope.

The work can go on for weeks. Field hospitals are beginning to relieve health facilities, which are still full of wounded. The stories are as frightening as the images of the explosion that went around the world.

“I can’t forget the explosion, the sound. The visions in front of my eyes. I literally saw body parts lying on the streets. People and children screaming, ”says Ayla, one of the wounded in the tragedy recovering at a hospital in the region.
