North Korea says it has joined the race to develop a vaccine against covid-19.
It is believed that in the State Commission for Science and Technology of that country clinical trials for an application are already underway and a debate is already taking place on how to carry out the third phase, which involves tests on humans.
The race to develop a vaccine for a disease that has infected nearly 14.5 million people and killed more than 605,000 worldwide is one of the most frightening and pressing technological and scientific challenges the world has faced recently. It will probably cost huge sums of money and the various countries are investing heavily to win what is becoming a competition for scientific superiority and national pride.
