Bayern win in Leverkusen and close to eighth consecutive title

Bayern Munich is getting closer to the eighth consecutive title in the German football league, by passing a new fire test and beating Bayer Leverkusen (5th) 4-2 away.

The Bavarians, who had won away rivals Borussia Dortmund (1-0) two days ago, once again had a show of strength against a Leverkusen who in the last nine league games had only one defeat and one draw.

The home team even started better, with Argentine Lucas Alario scoring 1-0 for Leverkusen’s side in the 10th minute, but Bayern, with a lot of quality in their squad, rolled up their sleeves to make winning easy.

Still in the first half, a mistake by Diaby ended up freeing Coman to 1-1, in the 27th minute, Goretzka made the turn in a quick counterattack, at 42, and Gnabry scored the third goal, in a hat at 45, after passing Kimmich’s long.

The fourth goal came from the inevitable ‘Bundesliga’ scorer Robert Lewandowski, who scored his 30th goal with a strong header on 66 minutes, and Leverkusen even reduced for Wirtz, 89.

The triumph left the Munich team with 70 points, ten more than Borussia Dortmund, who still host Hertha Berlin today, at a time when the League is on the 30th round, and 11 than Leipzig.

At Leverkusen’s home, Bayern also stood out when they entered the field with the inscription “red card to racism” on the training shirts, and then, in the game, with black smoke, pointing out that “Black lives matter”.

The initiative comes after this week defender Boateng, who started, called for white sportsmen to come together to fight racism, almost two weeks after the death of African-American George Floyd, after a police officer pressed his knee your neck for almost nine minutes.

In other league games, Eintracht Frankfurt, with André Silva in the starting lineup and Gonçalo Paciência still out, due to injury, made a ‘reverse’ in good results and lost 2-0 at home to Mainz (15th), that struggles to escape the places of descent.

Goals from Moussa Niakhate (43 minutes) and Kunde Malong (77) ‘undid’ Eintracht, who is 11th and came from two important victories in an attempt to climb the table, at Wolfsburg (2-1) and Werder Bremen (3-0).

Also on this 30th day, Leipzig wasted a 1-0 advantage (Schick’s goal, at 27) at home against Paderborn (18th and last), by allowing 1-1 very close to the end of the game, at 90 + 2.

Leipzig, who are third, one point behind Borussia Dortmund (second and less than one game), have been reduced to ten players since the 43th minute, by expulsion from central Upamecano, in a foul after a loss of ball when trying to leave to play.

In the fourth position, the last one to access the ‘Champions’, Borussia Moenchengladbach remains, who on Friday lost at Friburgo (1-0), but today also benefited from the defeat of Leverkusen, with the two teams equaled with 56 points.

In another game today, Hoffenheim, who fights for European places (6th), was ‘punished’ by a thoughtless gesture by Hubner, with the defender elbowing an opponent and seeing a red card after nine minutes.

At Fortuna Dusseldorf, the team even managed to win 2-1, with goals from Dabbur (16) and Zuber (61), after Hennings scored for the home team (05), but the same player would come ‘double’ at 76, making the 2-2 penalty.

The 30th round of the German league continues this afternoon with the reception of Borussia Dortmund at Hertha Berlin, and on Sunday with the matches Werder Bremen-Wolfsurgo, Union Berlin-Schalke and Augsburg-Cologne.
