Ali Mokdad directs part of the projections made by IHME, a metrics institute at the University of Washington used by the White House as one of the main models for monitoring Covid-19.

Since the middle of May, Mokdad and his team have followed the advance of the pandemic in Brazil and their conclusions are quite bleak. On Monday (25), the institute updated upward the expectation of deaths from the disease in the country: from 88 thousand to more than 125 thousand deaths predicted until August.
