The first phase of the pilot survey to determine the level of immunity to SARS-CoV-2 in Portugal has already started.
The serological survey carried out by the National Institute Dr. Ricardo Jorge “is already on the ground” and aims to “monitor the evolution of the population’s immunity against the new coronavirus”, announced the Secretary of State for Health at the joint press conference this Wednesday market. The purpose of the study is to know the percentage of people who have antibodies against the virus. According to the official, the collection of blood samples will start at the beginning of next week.
Since March 1, more than 500 thousand and 76 diagnostic tests have been carried out, and from May 1 to 11, the daily average of tests was 12,600. “As recognized by the OECD, we are among the countries that do the most tests,” added the Secretary of State, adding that 250 tests are being carried out daily in prisons, and this capacity is expected to increase in the next few days to 450 daily tests. .
