Malagasy President Andry Rajoelina rejected criticisms of the product’s effectiveness and dangers as a cure for the new coronavirus, denouncing a condescending attitude towards African medicine.
“If it weren’t for Madagascar and if it were a European country that had discovered this remedy, would there be so many doubts? I don’t think so,” said Rajoelina in an interview with France 24 and Radio France International (RFI).
Madagascar has provided its population and several African countries with a drink based on sagebrush, a plant with a recognized therapeutic effect against malaria, claiming that it prevents and cures covid-19.
