U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran that it will pay a heavy price for any American military casualties, following recent fatal strikes on U.S. forces operating in the Middle East.
Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that he instructed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Daniel Caine, and military leadership to ensure Iran faces steep consequences for each killed service member.
The warning follows the deaths of two U.S. soldiers in Jordan and another in Iraq due to Iranian attacks—marking the first American casualties since a ceasefire collapsed nearly two weeks ago. At least 17 U.S. service members have been killed since joint U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran began on February 28.

In a separate statement, Trump addressed comments from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump declared that Netanyahu will not face arrest while visiting the United States for the upcoming United Nations General Assembly.
Mamdani had previously told reporters he was examining legal avenues regarding International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants issued against Netanyahu for alleged war crimes in Gaza. However, Mamdani acknowledged uncertainties over local jurisdictional authority to detain a foreign head of state.
