Portuguese Primeira Liga club Benfica has officially announced the signing of Polish international winger Jakub Kaminski from German side 1. FC Köln. The 24-year-old has committed to a five-year contract running until June 2031, with Benfica paying a €17 million transfer fee.
In an official statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), Benfica SAD confirmed the agreemen.
“Sport Lisboa e Benfica – Futebol, SAD informs that it has reached an agreement with 1. FC Köln for the acquisition of 100% of the rights of the player Jakub Piotr Kaminski, for an amount of €17M (seventeen million euros). Benfica SAD will assume responsibility for the solidarity mechanism costs to be distributed to third-party clubs involved in the player’s development.”
The contract includes a €60 million release clause. Additionally, Köln retains a 10% sell-on fee on any future capital gains generated by a subsequent transfer. This sell-on percentage escalates to 25% if a future transfer occurs during the current summer 2026 window.

Kaminski brings considerable top-flight experience to Lisbon despite his young age:

International Experience: He holds 31 caps and has scored three goals for the Poland national team.

Development: Developed at Lech Poznań, where he won a Polish league title.

Bundesliga Career: Signed by Wolfsburg ahead of the 2022/23 season, he later moved to 1. FC Köln for the 2025/26 campaign, where he initially featured on loan.
Notably, Kaminski has prior experience playing against his new club. He faced Benfica during the 2020/21 Europa League group stage while representing Lech Poznań in a match that ended in a 4-2 victory for the Portuguese side in Poland.
