The Embassy of Portugal in Cape Verde has selected eight civil society initiatives for cofinancing under the 2026 edition of the Small Projects Fund (FPP). According to an official statement, the selected proposals focus heavily on local community development, specifically targetting professional training, employability, education, health, social and educational inclusion, and societal reintegration.

The developmental interventions will be carried out across the islands of Santo Antão, Santiago, São Vicente, São Nicolau, and Sal. Financed by Camões — Institute for Cooperation and Language and managed by the Portuguese Cooperation Center in Praia, the fund typically caps its short-term financial aid at 10,000 euros per grassroots project.

Completing the development portfolio are specialized ophthalmology consultations hosted by Cáritas Mindelo, social reintegration tracking by the Fundação Garah, and a community media library built for vulnerable children and youth under the supervision of Morabi, an association for women’s self-promotion.
